HP updates its customised images for VMware ESXi 5.1 and 5.0 Update 2 for Feb 2013

HP has updated its ESXi 5.x customised images as part of its Service Pack for Proliant (SPP) Feb 2013 update.

HP’s customised images are fully integrated sets of specific drivers and software that are tested to work together. You can see the list of Driver Versions in HP supplied VMware ESX/ESXi images.

I have done an extensive update of my HP Virtual Connect Flex-10 & VMware ESX(i) pre-requisites post which includes these new customised images.

      the odyssey continues:)

Bios Fw 12/09/2012 is just beeing replaced by version 2012.12.17

      DESCRIPTION
Certain HP ProLiant servers with AMD Opteron (6200-series processors) running a Hypervisor host operating
system such as VMware ESXi 5.X or VMware ESX/ESXi 4.X, may intermittently encounter operating system
unresponsiveness, a kernel panic or VMware Purple Screen (PSOD). If this occurs, one of the following error
      messages may be displayed:
CPUx tried to re-acquire lock CpuSchedCore. X
Page Fault # PF Exception 14 in CpuSchedVcpuSwitch()
System unresponsiveness, a kernel panic, or VMware ESXi Purple Screen (PSOD) may occur during
moderate to heavy CPU stress or when network stress occurs between Virtual Machines (VMs) while the
system is configured with a supported System ROM version dated 12/08/2012 or 12/09/2012.

      VMware ESXi 5.X:

You definitely want to upgrade to BIOS 12/17/12. Especially if you have experienced PSODs with PF#14, individual VMs dropping with “vmm64 fault 14” errors and MCEs in the IML. BIOS 12/09/12 and 12/08/12 (depending on HP model) and in SPP 2013.02 caused the individual VMs to crash as opposed to the whole ESX server issuing a PSOD.

Does anyone know what the new driver versions will be for ESXi 4.x and 5.x to be matched up to this new Emulex firmware 4.2.401.2215?

I am looking for the specific driver versions for the Ethernet (be2net) and FCoE (lpfc820) drivers.

      Thanks in advance!
